FAQ – Tea Ceremony & Matcha Making TIA
1. Is English support available?
Yes. Our instructors provide explanations in English and Japanese.
2. How long does the experience take?
The whole experience usually takes about 20–30 minutes.
3. What is included in the tea ceremony experience?
Our program includes a guided introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony, learning how to make matcha yourself, and enjoying seasonal Japanese sweets.
4. Do I need to wear a kimono?
No, a kimono is not required. You can join in your everyday clothes. However, if you wish, you can also rent a kimono at our partner store Aiwafuku before the ceremony.
5. Can children join?
Yes. Elementary school age and older are charged the adult price (no child price). Preschool children are free with an accompanying adult (1 preschool child per 1 adult). Matcha and sweets are provided for adults only, so preschool children may share from the adult portion. For safety and comfort, if a child runs, shouts, or disturbs others, we may ask you to leave during the session.
6. Do I need to book in advance?
Reservations are recommended, as seating is limited. Same-day bookings are accepted if space is available.
7. How much does it cost?
The standard plan is ¥3,500 per person (including matcha and sweets). Kimono rental is available for an additional fee.
8. Can I take photos or videos during the ceremony?
Photos are welcome at certain points of the experience. For videos, please check with the instructor before recording.
9. Do you offer private or group sessions?
Yes, private sessions and group bookings are available. Please contact us in advance for groups larger than 8 people.
10. Do you offer allergy-friendly sweets?
Please tell us about any food allergies when booking or before your visit. Depending on the allergy, we may be able to change the sweets. We do our best, but we cannot guarantee complete removal of allergens. For severe allergies, multiple allergies, or last-minute requests, we may not be able to accommodate.
